Support from National Unity Party in Parliament "depends on the Government" (Automatic Translation. Original follows)
Dili, 05 May (Lusa) - The support of or opposition National Unity Party (PUN) to the coalition in power depends on the Government itself, including the level of justice and good governance,Mrs Fernanda Borges said today to the agency Lusa .
Questioned on whether her party will support the Executive headed by Xanana Gusmão or whether to vote for its fall, following the political agreement signed today between the Social Democratic Timorese Association (ASDT) and the largest opposition party, Fretilin, the leader of PUN said "depends on this government."
The PUN has three elected Members of Parliament and in the case of a censure motion or a motion of confidence, their side may be crucial to sustain or overturn the government.
"Without justice and good governance, East Timor not vai forward," said Fernanda Borges about criteria for viability, or not, the government of the Alliance for Parliamentary Majority (AMP) by her party. "This government is going to have to implement the report of the Commission for Reception Truth and Reconciliation (on violence during the Indonesian occupation) and the report of the Independent Special Commission of Inquiry" into the crisis of 2006, Fernanda Borges said. that "it is important to the security sector", whereas the government of AMP is going to have to make many changes in the Falintil-Defence Forces of Timor-Leste and the National Police. "
"We will support policies for the national interest. We will not support any party or any coalition," stressed Fernanda Borges.
"If it is for justice, good governance and welfare of the people we will be voting in favour. If not for any of these three things with certainty that we will fly against or abstain," said Fernanda Borges.
In a release distributed today, the leaders of ASDT and Fretilin announced that the two parties decided to form "a solid coalition" to form "the next constitutional government of Timor-Leste."
The coalition ASDT / PSD (Social Democratic Party) incorporates the Alliance for Parliamentary Majority (AMP) which is the platform of four parties that supports the current government, together with the National Congress for Reconstruction of East Timor (CNRT), led by Xanana Gusmao, and the Democratic Party (DP), Fernando "La Sama" de Araujo.

Apoio do PUN no Parlamento "depende do Governo"

Díli, 05 Mai (Lusa) - O apoio ou oposição do Partido Unidade Nacional (PUN) à coligação no poder depende do próprio Governo, nomeadamente a nível de justiça e boa governação, afirmou hoje à Agência Lusa a deputada Fernanda Borges.
Questionada sobre se este partido apoiará o Executivo chefiado por Xanana Gusmão ou se votaria para o fazer cair, na sequência do acordo político assinado hoje entre a Associação Social Democrática Timorense (ASDT) e o maior partido da oposição, Fretilin, a líder do PUN afirmou que "depende deste governo".
O PUN elegeu três deputados ao Parlamento e, no caso de uma moção de censura ou uma moção de confiança, a sua bancada pode ser crucial para aguentar ou derrubar o governo.
"Sem justiça e boa governação, Timor-Leste não vai avante", explicou Fernanda Borges sobre os critérios de viabilização, ou não, do governo da Aliança para Maioria Parlamentar (AMP) pelo seu partido.
"Este governo vai ter que implementar o relatório da Comissão de Acolhimento Verdade e Reconciliação (sobre a violência durante a ocupação indonésia) e o relatório da Comissão Especial Independente de Inquérito" à crise de 2006, declarou Fernanda Borges.
Fernanda Borges salientou também que "é importante o sector de segurança”, considerando que o governo da AMP vai ter que fazer muitas mudanças nas Falintil-Forças de Defesa de Timor-Leste e na Polícia Nacional".
"Nós vamos apoiar políticas para o interesse nacional. Não vamos apoiar nenhum partido nem nenhuma coligação", frisou Fernanda Borges.
"Se é para a justiça, a boa governação e o bem do povo, vamos votar a favor. Se não é para nenhuma destas três coisas, com certeza que vamos voar contra ou abster-nos", acrescentou Fernanda Borges.
Num comunicado distribuído hoje, os líderes da ASDT e da Fretilin anunciaram que os dois partidos decidiram formar "uma sólida coligação" para formar "o próximo Governo constitucional de Timor-Leste".
A coligação ASDT/PSD (Partido Social Democrata) integra a Aliança para Maioria Parlamentar (AMP) que constitui a plataforma de quatro partidos que sustenta o actual Governo, juntamente com o Congresso Nacional de Reconstrução de Timor-Leste (CNRT), liderado por Xanana Gusmão, e o Partido Democrático (PD), de Fernando "La Sama" de Araújo.
Entretanto, o presidente do Partido Social Democrata (PSD) timorense, Mário Viegas Carrascalão, defendeu hoje a apresentação de uma moção de confiança pelo governo, na sequência do acordo político entre a ASDT e a Fretilin.
"Se eu pertencesse ao partido maioritário dentro da AMP (Aliança Para Maioria Parlamentar), pediria uma moção de confiança. Não se pode governar em cima de vidros. Temos que saber com o que contamos e se nós ainda merecemos a confiança da maioria ou não", declarou Mário Viegas Carrascalão à Lusa, à margem da sessão plenária.
Para o líder do PSD, "é altamente necessário" que o Executivo apresente a moção de confiança.
